Traffic Calming Coming to Woodbury
PRESS RELEASE
May 14, 2012

The NEW JERSEY DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION has announced the proposed project of the grading and paving of Rt. 45, between Carpenter St. and Red Bank Ave.

This project will begin on May 22, 2012 and continue until around November 2012.

There will be a public information center conducted by the NJ DOT, at City Hall, 33 Delaware St., in Council Chamber on the 2nd floor, on Thursday, May 17th, from 4PM to 7PM. At that time residents and other interested parties can review the plans and speak with NJ DOT representative about the proposed plans.
The project will implement traffic improvements designed to improve pedestrian safety and reduce congestion.

The existing 4 lane roadway will be reduced to 3 lanes, one lane north, one south and a continuous left turn lane in the center. There will be traffic chokers constructed at several intersections, ADA compliant ramps, up-graded traffic signals, and high visibility crosswalks at designated intersections along with head to head left turns with synchronized signaling. Additionally, the entire length will be milled, resurfaced and restriped.

The historic City of Woodbury is a great place to live, work, visit and own a business. Our blend of Colonial and Victoria era homes, natural parks & waterways make this one of Southern New Jersey’s gems. We also have well-regarded public schools with small class sizes and reasonable property values.

As the County Seat of Gloucester County and home to Underwood-Memorial Hospital, Woodbury is one of the region’s employment centers. For business investors, we can offer Tax Abatement incentives in our ambitious Broad Street (Route 45) redevelopment corridor. The much anticipated light rail connection to Camden & Philadelphia will truly make this the City you can grow with! Be a part of the excitement!
